Fans choice of Newcastle team v Rotherham
Using our interactive feature, NUFC team selector, we asked you to choose your preferred formation and starting eleven for the Newcastle team v Rotherham.
The preferred collective formation chosen was 4-4-2 with fans overwhelmingly going for a Mitrovic/Gayle front two.
This isn’t a new yearning from supporters but interesting to see if Rafa agrees the time has come.
The midfield seemed to pretty much pick itself, with no room for Mohamed Diame, though some Newcastle fans did favour a switch of formation to play only three at the back – seemingly to get Paul Dummett out of the starting eleven.
Supporters though have gone for a left-back in the shape of Ciaran Clark, who edged out Achraf Lazaar.
Whilst Clark moving across, allowed fans to then bring Mbemba back into the side, with Grant Hanley a distant alternative in the voting.
Karl Darlow was the overwhelming choice to continue in goal, whilst the same was the case with DeAndre Yedlin over the unlucky Vurnon Anita.
