Chancel Mbemba posts bizarre one line message

Chancel Mbemba was easily Newcastle United’s best defender last season, though that didn’t necessarily say much…

Arriving as a 20 year old from the weak Belgian league, the DR Congo international did remarkably well as he was saddled with the likes of Coloccini and Steven Taylor at the heart of the defence.

Only once Rafa Benitez got his feet under the table and paired him with Jamaal Lascelles, did United at last look like they had a central defensive duo with potential.

Only making the bench for the opening game against Fulham due to lack of match fitness after injury, Chancel Mbemba was then returned to the team against Huddersfield and looked set to be there for the duration, apart from the odd bit of rotation, as happened when he was one of a few players rested for the QPR match.

Straight back in for the next game v Wolves, it all went pear-shaped as he scored an own goal and both Mbemba and Lascelles had a nightmare.

It looks as though the former Anderlecht defender carried the bigger share of the blame as he was instantly dropped and has missed the last four matches, with Ciaran Clark now looking first choice for Rafa Benitez at this moment in time.

To make matters worse for Chancel Mbemba, he turned out for DR Congo on Tuesday night at home against Kenya in a friendly.

DR Congo were expected to comfortably win but after wasting a host of chances in the first half, they were sunk by a sucker punch as Michael Olunga scored the only goal of the game to give Kenya a shock 1-0 win.

Personally, I still think he is our best defender and hopefully bounces back into the team very soon.

Despite this month to forget, Chancel Mbemba has posted this upbeat one-liner today, talk about positive thinking…
