Championship form table worth a look before Newcastle v Ipswich

The Championship form table tells a few stories ahead of Newcastle entertaining Ipswich.

Despite Newcastle rack up another run of wins on the bounce, two of the promotion rivals still have better form over the last six matches.

The two points Norwich dropped at Fulham (after leading 2-0) on Tuesday are the only other ones they have failed to get, apart from the three they threw away/Newcastle took away at St James Park.

Whilst Brighton who are third in the Championship, are at there very top of this form table and unbeaten in these last six games, suggesting they are more than capable of repeating their promotion challenge of last season – when they just missed out.

Birmingham who are currently fifth in the Championship, also have only one defeat in the last half dozen – the same as Newcastle.

As for tomorrow’s opponents, Tuesday’s midweek win over Burton was a first win in six for Ipswich and they sit 19th in this Championship form table.

However, they have drawn three of the other five games and having only conceded two goals in the six games, it is clear to see where their strength lies.

On the other hand, a failure to score in any of their five matches before Tuesday is pretty shocking!

It is very tempting to think that if Newcastle can score a goal on Saturday afternoon, they will be 90% towards getting their fifth win in a row.
