PSG have released a statement (see below) on Thursday, confirming that Hatem Ben Arfa had been left out of their matchday squad for a fourth time in a row.
On Tuesday the former Newcastle winger was left out of the PSG matchday squad that faced Dijon, with GFFN reporting that they have been told by informed sources that PSG Manager Unai Emery believed that Hatem Ben Arfa has not been working hard enough in training to justify a place in the squad.
The GFFN report adding that the statistical data collected by PSG from training sessions, backs up the Manager’s belief that the player isn’t putting the energy needed into the training sessions.
Following that game, PSG Manager Unai Emery said that along with the rest of the players Hatem Ben Arfa was in his thoughts for Friday night’s match with Toulouse, yet once again he is left completely out of the squad.
Considering these four games are within a period that stretches just 10 days from first to last, when you would expect PSG to fully use their squad to rotate etc, the writing is surely on the wall for the winger/playmaker.
After that third game in a row where he was excluded from the squad, French media stated that Ben Arfa’s representatives have already been in touch with English clubs about a potential loan move in January.
The question many Newcastle fans are asking is whether it would be a good move to try and bring him back to St James Park, to see what he could do under Rafa Benitez.
As always with Hatem Ben Arfa, the Newcastle supporters will be split down the usual lines on that one.
