Predicted Rafa Benitez Newcastle team v QPR
Here is the predicted Newcastle team v QPR that I think Rafa Benitez will choose on Tuesday night.
With at least two players for every position and a tendency to make changes each match regardless of the result, second guessing Rafa Benitez has become a real lottery.
However, the United boss has revealed that both Colback and Gouffran are carrying knocks from Saturday, so at least two changes are almost certain from the starting eleven who beat Derby 2-0.
I think Isaac Hayden was almost certain to come in anyway, though maybe if Colback hadn’t picked up a hamstring injury, maybe it would have been Shelvey dropped to the bench.
A lot of talk about the last four signings of the window but I fancy only DeAndre Yedlin to be involved from the start. Vurnon Anita has played all five Championship games and is possibly due a rest anyway but I feel Yedlin is on the verge of starting a game after two sub appearances.
However, with Atsu, Lazaar and Murphy yet to get any minutes as yet, I find it hard to imagine any of them going straight into the starting line-up, though I would expect at least one of them to feature from the bench.
Two great away wins and defensive displays at Bristol and Derby but Dwight Gayle has looked isolated much of the time and Unietd haven’t created a load of chances on their travels.
Tonight we could see a tweak in selection up front and in formation, with Mitrovic a strong contender to come in and gayle to play behind him.
Gouffran’s likely absence gives the chance to Diame and Ritchie to give Newcastle great balance on the flanks going up and down the pitch.
However, whilst I know many fans are itching to see Lazaar at left-back, I think Rafa would be more likely to give Ciaran Clark another game after he did ok there against Bristol City.
