Norwich Manager’s pre-Newcastle battle cry “We are going to win”

With four straight wins, only one defeat all season and top of the league, Alex Neil is full of confidence ahead of Wednesday night.

The Norwig Manager says that he and his team ‘are not going there (Newcastle) looking to accept a draw or feeling we we just want to do well’.

Instead Alex Neil has declared ‘We are going to win’.

Newcastle fans would certainly accept a repeat of the scoreline and entertainment they enjoyed last October but Alex Neil prefers to reflect back on the result a Carrow Road.

Shortly after Rafa Benitez had taken over, Newcastle lost a relegation six pointer 3-2 and the Canaries boss says ‘we are capable of beating them again’.

Hopefully Alex Neil will back up his words with action and come and try to go for the win – because if Norwich show attacking intent then it will surely suit Newcastle who have struggled at times to break down deep and packed defences, both home and away.

Whatever the tactics, the Newcastle v Norwich match has got all the ingredients to be an excellent match and fingers crossed Rafa has the players totally understanding of what is expected of them.

Alex Neil speaking to the Eastern Daily Press:

“We are going to win.

“We are not going there looking to accept a draw or feeling we just want to do well.

“We beat them at home last season, we are capable of beating them again.

“I think we can go there on the back of four league wins, with them now deeming it as one they have to win.

“The onus is on them to come and try to beat us.

“Team spirit has always been good in my group. The camaraderie and the way they fight for each other has always been there.

“We got relegated last season but no one could question how hard they tried or how hard they wanted it.

“If we didn’t have it, we wouldn’t have started this season as well as we have in terms of results.

“Some of the other big clubs are finding it tough in this league. For us to recover so well from the hangover of last season the players deserve a lot of credit.”
