Nobody died – We go again
I went into the bookies before Saturday’s game and they had highlighted all kinds of special offers on what the scoreline would be, funnily enough Newcastle 0 Wolves 2 was nowhere to be seen…
The emphasis was all on just how many Newcastle would score, with seemingly no thought as to NUFC not winning.
They aren’t daft these bookies!
Fair to say we have a more emotional fanbase than most, we really live those highs and lows of following our team.
The growing reach of social media simply exasperates the problem, for many there is no such thing as an off day or the opposition playing well.
Any defeat has to see somebody to blame and answers sought, whereas it is often the case that you just have to forget about it and move on.
I’m sure that with hindsight Rafa Benitez would do things differently but so far what he has been doing has worked pretty well…
The vast majority have come to accept that Rafa will do things his way, no matter the fact that nobody I know would have Paul Dummett in their starting eleven.
I think the manager got his team selection wrong against Wolves but then I also thought the same before we beat QPR 6-0.
Nobody died on Saturday, Newcastle United aren’t in crisis, we go again on Tuesday night and then look forward to meeting up with our friends at Villa Park next weekend.
We lost a battle but winning the war is all that counts.
