Newcastle United draw Preston in last 16 of Cup – Narrowly avoiding Sunderland
Newcastle United have drawn Preston in the fourth round of the EFl (League) Cup.
United beating Wolves 2-0 on Tuesday night to go into the draw held on Wednesday night.
For a moment it looked written in the stars…with 12 teams already drawn out, Newcastle were the 13th, with Preston, Sunderland and Southampton remaining.
A one in three chance but not to be, with Southampton home to the mackems and Newcastle facing fellow Championship side Preston at home.
With the likes of Man Utd v Man City, West Ham v Chelsea and Liverpool v Spurs, it looks very unlikely that Newcastle’s tie will be chosen for live tv coverage.
