Newcastle star Dwight Gayle has won the Championship goal of the month award for August.
The United striker must have had very mixed emotions as his teammates threatened to get into double figures at Loftus Road.
Six goals, a couple off the woodwork and 29 shots in total, he must have been desperate to get on that pitch…
Instead, he will have to be content with looking forward to Wolves at home on Saturday and his winning Championship goal of the month.
The Championship shortlist for August goal of the month was chosen by EFL’s Commercial Marketing Manager James Walker, Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed, and former Wolves striker and Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman.
The choice being:
Jacob Murphy (Norwich) v Blackburn
Tom Cairney (Fulham) v Leeds
Dwight Gayle (Newcastle) first goal v Reading
Fans were invited to vote and now Sky Sports have revealed that it was the Newcastle man who came out on top.
