Rafa Benitez has been speaking to the press ahead of his team’s visit to QPR.
The Newcastle Manager’s message was for both fans and team to enjoy this winning run but also to remind them that nothing is achieved yet.
Like all managers, Rafa built up the opposition ahead of Tuesday night’s match, but with the current form and options we must be really confident that at least a point will be forthcoming at Loftus Road.
Only drawing at home to rock bottom Blackburn at the weekend, Rangers will surely have their work cut out if Newcastle maintain their defensive form and manage to find a goal or two.
Speaking of goals, Rafa had a special mention for two of his main combatants in recent games.
Saying that Shelvey is reaping the rewards of getting fitter in the close season, whilst Rafa declared that he’s especially pleased for Yoan Gouffran, somebody who is always ‘laughing and smiling’ on the training pitch.
Rafa Benitez speaking at his pre-QPR press conference:
“Alan Shearer deserves this statue – hopefully we will see one of our (current) player scoring so many goals!
“I watch him (Yoan Goufran) in training and he is always laughing and smiling, I’m really pleased for him.
“We knew this season could be difficult. But we have confidence now we are doing well.
“Tuesday will be very difficult. We have seen QPR playing and it is hard to beat them. It will not be easy.
“QPR have pace, strong players and they can score from set-pieces. They are a good team.
“We have to concentrate, we cannot have over-confidence and we have to approach every game like it is the most important.
“Jonjo Shelvey worked very hard on his fitness this summer, now he is playing better and learning little by little.
“To win games, improve and keep doing well is the main things. We have done nothing yet so we have to keep working very hard.
“The fans have experienced bad times and have to enjoy this…but nithing is done yet.”
