Aston Villa owner Tony Xia was keen to get his message out to Villa fans after watching his team steal a point in the final stages.
Newcastle had totally dominated and should have had the game sewn up by half-time, instead they held only a single goal lead.
Dwight Gayle and Mohamed Diame in particular, missing absolute sitters.
Villa fans booed their team off at the break and Newcastle continued on top in the second period, the match looking to have only one outcome.
However, as we all know, a one goal lead in any match is always fragile and with nothing to lose the really poor home side had a go in the final 20 minutes.
Newcastle sat back and eventually paid the price, Villa having a goal ruled off for offside and an Ayew effort coming back off the post, before Tshibola eventually headed home in the final stages from a corner.
Going into the Newcastle game, Tony Xia was asking Aston Villa fans not to desert the club and for everybody to stick together.
Villa kicked off on Saturday with a record of only 3 wins in the last 45 league matches, so maybe little surprise that the locals were revolting.
Tony Xia Monday 19 September 2016:
“We r clear about issues.
“I’ve asked all2support including pointing out coach team’s weakness and try different ways to fix 4now. Be positive!
“I understood all ur feeling & desperation 2up TheVilla.
“We need more2stand together & calm down 2solve all the problems b4 the dawn coming!”
After watching the fightback against Newcastle, Tony Xia declared:
“1 Good to see everyone fighting throughout but yet playing as a team.
“2 Our lads r top class in this league.
“3 Mentality issue is false as I said.”
As always, it depends on where you stand. Did Newcastle throw it away or a deserved reward for a valiant Villa fightback?
