The young Newcastle stars got a confidence booster today as they hit seven goals against a visiting Huddersfield Town.
A repeat of that on Saturday would leave everybody happy, from Rafa Benitez to the capacity fifty two thousand crowd that will fill St James Park.
However, it was actually Huddersfield who took the lead after only a few minutes.
United quickly turned it around though and goals from Gallacher and McNall (2) sent Newcastle 3-1 up, only for the young Terriers to score just before the break.
Aplin sent Newcastle 4-2 up shortly after half-time and then another was added by Owen Gallacher, his second of the match.
Young Geordie striker Lewis McNall completed his hat-trick, before sub Jack Robson completed the goalscoring action for a 7-2 final scoreline.
United’s Under 18s kick off their competitive matches on Saturday when Everton visit and this was their final warm-up game, something which will hopefully set them up for a flier after some disappointing form and results last season.
