Rafa Benitez has faced the media ahead of Newcastle’s next match at Bristol City.
The Newcastle boss claiming that his main motivation with the team changes on Wednesday night was simply because of playing so many games in quick succession.
Suggesting we are likely to see just as many (four) in his team on Saturday?
As for players who will and won’t be taking part against Bristol City, Rafa Benitez has revealed that Moussa Sissoko is training but (allegedly) not fit enough to be considered for this match.
Talking of transfers…Rafa says that he continues to work on various transfer targets and is hoping to get them over the line before the window slams shut.
One player who will be in tomorrow’s squad is Mohamed Diame, the Newcastle boss confirming he is available for selection after a knock to the ankle.
One player who isn’t involved tomorrow but will be available after Saturday is Aleksandar Mitrovic, Rafa Benitez admitting that he has been a big miss.
Rafa Benitez pre-Bristol City:
“We have transfer targets and we are working on them – I will try to do them before the deadline
“It’s always important to win and to score four goals was even more important. Hopefully it’s the first of many.
“I changed players because you need to when you play two games a week. All of them will be important and they will all take part.
“It has been a problem for us with Mitrovic missing because he is our target man. He will give us a new dimension when he’s back.
“We know we will play teams who are extra-motivated. They (Bristol City) are doing well and it will be tough.”
