Newcastle lower asking price to shift Daryl Janmaat

Daryl Janmaat looks certain to have played his final game for Newcastle United.

Starting the first two matches of the season, the Dutch international has not played in the following three games.

Left out of the 18 man squad against Cheltenham, the full-back is set to leave in the coming days.

Both local and national media are reporting that he is leaving, with Watford and West Ham fighting for his services.

Watford were quoted £10m earlier this summer according to The Mail but now they say that Newcastle have accepted that they have to lower their price and a bid of £7m from Watford means that the Hornets have moved into pole position.

Local media have reported sources saying that Daryl Janmaat has told them he is definitely leaving.

DeAndre Yedlin arrived on Tyneside earlier today for his medical, ahead of a permanent move from Tottenham, claimed to be around the £4m mark.

Yedlin spent last season on loan playing for Sunderland but lived in Newcastle like many others in the mackem squad, so he obviously knows what the area is all about.

Daryl Janmaat was arguably Newcastle’s best player in his first season but lost his way last year, his form tailing off and then punching the wall at Southampton which ruled him out of the relegation run-in.

To compound matters, Netherlands Head Coach Danny Blind revealed that Janmaat had told him he wanted to leave if Newcastle were relegated.
