Newcastle fans are officially the most optimistic of all the clubs in the Championship.
The EFL polled 6,128 supporters across the Championship and Leagues One & Two, asking them various questions.
Asked to rate out of 5 how optimistic they were ahead of the new season, voting Newcastle fans averaged a massive 4.78 out of 5, with Sheffield Wednesday (4.69) and Derby (4.41) supporters in second and third.
Newcastle’s fellow relegated clubs featured in 5th (Norwich 4.31) and 14th (Aston Villa 3.71) places.
When asked where they would finish in the table, more than any other set of supporters the Newcastle fans themselves predicted they would finish in first place.
Then when all Championship supporters were asked which club would win the league, a massive 74% predicted that it would be Newcastle United.
In second place was Norwich (6%), then Derby (4%) and Aston Villa (4%), followed by Sheffield Wednesday (3%) and Brighton (3%).
So basically the three relegated clubs plus those that just missed out on promotion last season.
