Newcastle draw Cheltenham in EFL Cup
The EFL Cup first round was completed on Wednesday night, the televised match seeing League Two outfit Luton Town knocking out Aston Villa 3-1.
Elsewhere, Leeds United overcame a major scare to win on penalties at Fleetwood, whilst it also took penalties for QPR to overcome Swindon Town at home.
Following those ties, the draw has been made for the second round.
The matches are to be played week starting Monday 22nd August.
As well as Norwich and the Premier League clubs who enter at this stage, Newcastle United were one of the clubs to be seeded for this round.
The draw being kind to Newcastle as they were drawn at home to Cheltenham Town of League Two.
Meanwhile, Newcastle striker Ivan Toney is set to face Sunderland after his loan club Shrewsbury Town were given an away tie on Wearside.
Newcastle allowed the forward to be cup-tied and he came on as a sub this week to help Shrewsbury beat Newcastle’s Saturday opponents Huddersfield Town.
