A couple of positives for Rafa Benitez but no more than that
Having recorded and analysed the highlights of all of the Championship games and watched the live ones, the conclusion I have come to, is that it’s going to be a long, hard season.
I think we were a bit complacent and underachieved against a poor Fulham side, who showed no more than we did.
A couple of positives, Ritchie and Hayden, but no more than that.
The negatives: No.9 playing left wing, Anita is no winger and as for Dummett and Colback…?
Mbemba needs to replace Hanley and Diame needs to be played against Huddersfield in a 4-4-2 formation.
The likes of Sheff Wed, QPR, Huddersfield, Norwich, Forest and even Burton showed us up with intense, pacey, flowing football and a desire to push for the win.
Some great football and cracking goals, something that Newcastle did not show on Friday night.
We need to up our productivity by better defending on set-pieces, winning the midfield, not giving the ball away so cheaply and pushing on.
I know Rafa Benitez will have been watching and analysing the games and will be working the players hard this week, let’s hope he can sort it out and get a better performance and much better result this weekend.
I know it was our first game and we will play like that on more than one occasion this season, but we will see a few more players come in to enhance the squad and a few players’ butts kicked into action.
I trust in Rafa Benitez to get it right, I don’t however, trust some of the current players to take it in.
