Club’s media partner say Newcastle want to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic

Newcastle United’s media partner says that the club are now trying to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Mirror report that their information is that Rafa Benitez has decided he wants to move out the striker because allegedly, he feels he can’t ‘trust’ Mitrovic – especially in terms of discipline.

The Serbian forward still has three games of his post-Spurs suspension to serve and the first possible Championship match he could be involved in, is the home game with Brighton on Saturday 27 August.

Newcastle struggled to hold the ball up on Friday night at Craven Cottage and the Perez/Gayle combination didn’t spark at the first attempt.

Hard to judge what Rafa Benitez sees as his idea strikeforce from his current squad, with the stupid red card against Tottenham meaning the United boss doesn’t currently have Mitrovic as an option.

The final three friendlies saw Rafa leave out Mitrovic and play Gayle & Perez, though this was seen by fans as simply what needed to be done to prepare for the opening matches, with the former Anderlecht forward ruled out.

If there is any substance to The Mirror’s story, it seems very strange that Rafa Benitez hasn’t acted earlier to move out Mitrovic and bring in an alternative.

With Moussa Sissoko still set to go surely and Rafa admitting he is looking to add further players, there looks to be more significant Newcastle United transfer business ahead, whether or not Mitrovic is part of that.
