Newcastle United are looking to bring in another four players according to reports on Tuesday morning.
None of the positions will be news to you but the Chronicle says that they understand Rafa Benitez does intend to go for this quartet of signings, which would make it 12 new senior players signed this summer.
The positions targeted are a new left-back, another winger and not one new striker, but two.
Brendan Galloway is in line to come in on loan to hopefully solve the ongoing disaster which is Newcastle’s left-back area, the deal reportedly held up because of a delay in the scousers landing Lamine Kone from Sunderland – everything crossed that this is sorted very soon.
On the winger front it is claimed that Newcastle Unitedhad an offer for a Premier League player knocked back in recent days. As for strikers, it is quite clear Newcastle need more options even with Aleksandar Mitrovic due back from suspension after the weekend.
So is this transfer activity realistic in the next two weeks?
Whilst Rafa was said to have transfer funds irrespective of selling players to generate cash, a really major outlay on three or four buys must surely depend on Moussa Sissoko finding somebody to take him on.
The challenge of course is bringing in players who are better than what is already at the club and to achieve that, it must be looking increasingly likely that these could be loan signings with time, and potentially money, pressing.
Newcastle are allowed up to five loan players named on a team sheet in any particular game, so even if they did take Brendan Galloway they do have plenty scope to bring in others.
