When this Newcastle team can now be named…surely is a bit crazy for the Championship

I don’t want to be seen as yet another deluded, arrogant NUFC fan BUT when this Newcastle team can be named, is it not just looking a little bit crazy?

Freezing this moment in time, with no further transfers in and out, just look at this team…

It contains eight full internationals and the three exceptions are £10m signing Dwight Gayle, La Liga/Champions League veteran Jesus Gamez, and one of last season’s few successes, Jamaal Lascelles.

Not only that but then on the bench Newcastle United have the likes of:

New signings Sels (Champions League experience) and Hayden, then Perez, Colback and Darlow, £13m Florian Thauvin and full internationals in de Jong, Saivet, Dummett, Anita, Elliot and Tiote.

Obviously we know there are players in that team who want to leave (Sissoko, Janmaat, Wijnaldum) and others who are maybe destined to be part of the summer trading as well (Krul, Shelvey).

Whilst football still has to be played out on the pitch and not just on reputation, surely that team above would boss this division even if at 80%/90% of their capability/effort.

Not getting carried away but just like in 2008/09 I once again can’t get away from the feeling that this team was far too good to go down and the fact they did manage it, was a disgrace.

With the only saving grace being that we now have a team/squad that should overwhelm the rest – if not there is something seriously wrong with them.
