Newcastle give Otto Huuhtanen a week’s trial

Newcastle United are taking a look at Otto Huuhtanen on a week’s trial.

The young Finnish keeper will be training with Newcastle from 10 July to the 17 July with the potential of a permanent deal.

Currently with Ilves Tampere who are third in the top division of football in Finland, the 16 year old goalkeeper has recently made the bench for first team matches.

Last November, Otto Huuthanen signed a three year deal which tied him to the Finnish club until 2018.

Whilst Rafa Benitez has added British Premier League players in Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle, clearly Newcastle are continuing to also look further afield for players both young and old.

Keeper Matz Sels was Rafa’s first Newcastle signing from Gent in Belgium, whilst Friday morning saw 31 year old Jesus Gamez agree to join United.

Interesting to see how Otto Huuhtanen gets on and whether he does enough to join the growing number of goalkeepers at St James Park.
