Hatem Ben Arfa gets his dream move
Hatem Ben Arfa has finally got his dream move.
PSG confirming on Friday lunchtime that the former Newcastle United winger had been signed on a two year contract.
Only 18 months ago Ben Arfa went so far as to say he was considering quitting football when he was left unable to play football for the second half of the 2014/15 season, having already played for Newcastle reserves and Hull City.
The combined efforts of Alan Pardew and Steve Bruce leaving the winger without a club , or any hope at that point.
A one year deal at Nice has seen Hatem Ben Arfa emerge as the real renaissance man, a spectacular 17 goals inspiring the unfancied Ligue 1 club to finish fourth and just miss out on Champions League football.
While we wait to see just how much game time Ben Arfa gets at PSG, we are left to reflect on a bit of a mad day for Newcastle wingers past and present.
Friday has seen Matt Ritchie confirmed as a £12m Newcastle signing, whilst Andros Townsend has walked out and signed for Crystal Palace in a £13m deal after Palace triggered his release clause.
Townsend’s declaration that he hopes Alan Pardew can ‘take him to another level’ provoking much amusement amongst those of a black and white persuasion.
Three wingers all playing in different divisions next season, any money on who you think will be seen as the major success story in a year’s time?
