Whilst the first team was over in Belgium sticking four past Sporting Lokeren (see the goals here), Newcastle’s young stars were taking part in the Steel Cup.
Corby Town host the weekend-long tournament, which also features Under 21 teams from PSV Eindhoven, Leeds United and Newcastle United.
The four clubs play a game on both Saturday and Sunday, with the winner decided by the combined results, rather than a final.
Yesterday, holders PSV demolished Leeds 4-1, whilst Newcastle also won by a three goal margin.
An entertaining game saw the woodwork struck at both ends and some decent football from the Newcastle youngsters.
Luke Charman gave United the lead on 41 minutes and then Sean Longstaff added two more, the first a well worked effort and then the final goal of the encounter was a rare strike direct from a corner

Newcastle play PSV at noon today and a win would see them lift the trophy.
