The next batch of Live TV Games have been revealed for the second weekend of the Championship, which is also when the Premier League kicks off.
The Championship matches chosen are:
Friday 12 August 7.45pm Brighton v Nottingham Forest
Saturday 13 August 5.30pm Norwich v Sheffield Wednesday
So this means that Newcastle United v Huddersfield Town remains a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 13 August.
Altogether there will be 92 Championship matches screened live by Sky Sports throughout the season and so we now know five of them.
Friday 5 August 7.45pm Fulham v Newcastle United
Sunday 7 August 12pm QPR v Leeds
Sunday 7 August 4.30pm Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa
In the opening two weekends there is definitely a slant towards featuring the ‘bigger’ clubs, with all three relegated clubs shown live, plus the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds.
EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey announced this commitment to fans with regard to Live TV Games…:
“Our first season rebranded as the EFL promises to be one of the most exciting yet for league football and we’re delighted the TV cameras will be with us every step of the way to showcase all the action as it unfolds at stadia up and down the country.
“As ever, whilst being supportive to our principal broadcast partner, who continue to provide our clubs with an important guaranteed income, we are extremely conscious of the impact moving fixtures for television can have on fans.
“We are in a regular dialogue with Sky to ensure that any Sky Bet EFL matches set to be displaced for live coverage are done so as soon as is practically possible.”
