Newcastle fans prepare to escape the brainwashing

Only another four days to go and Newcastle fans can plan another year of our life away.

This past week saw the Premier League fixtures released and it came with some predictable whinging from our friends on Wearside.

Sunderland fans enjoying the prospect of Newcastle supporters visiting the likes of Rotherham, Preston and Burton, rather than the glamour and glitz of Hull, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough…

Funnily enough, many Newcastle fans are welcoming the change with open arms, as a bit of an antidote to the Premier League hard sell and of course the opportunity to win a few matches…

It may be stating the obvious but dropping into the Championship is only really a laugh if you bounce straight back out of it, ‘becoming a Leeds’ isn’t any kind of an option to be welcomed.

As we are there we may as well enjoy ourselves and the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Leeds are big clubs with significant histories, whilst Burton, Preston and Brentford are clubs who provide a novelty factor and new stadiums for many supporters to tick off.

Away from the Premier League brainwashing, one thing that doesn’t change is that it is still going along to watch a game of football, hopefully being entertained and having a bit of a laugh.

Counting the points to edge towards safety…or not, is no way to live, and plenty of clubs are showing now that emerging from the Championship with momentum can take you on some journey.

Southampton, Stoke and Swansea are just three clubs that have made rapid progress since seizing their chance, which makes you wonder at just what could be possible at Newcastle United if Rafa Benitez weaves his magic.

Goodbye clinging on, hello bounce effect and an instant return to the Premier League and better times ahead.
