What Everton fans have said about possible Tim Krul transfer

Tim Krul has been linked with a love to Goodison Park as Everton fans welcome new boss Ronald Koeman into the hotseat.

With Tim Howard’s departure and Joel Robles not totally convincing, both national and local (Merseyside) media have claimed that Koeman is keen on making his fellow Dutchman one of his first signings.

Tim Krul only has one year left on his contract at St James Park and there has been no talk as yet of a new deal being in the offing.

After being injured on international duty last year, Krul has confirmed he is set to be fit for pre-season training ahead of the next campaign.

After spending his whole professional career at Newcastle United (give or take the odd loan spell), is this the time for him to take on a new challenge and Newcastle to top up Rafa’s transfer budget?

Interesting to find out what Everton fans think of the possibility and so we looked to see what supporters of The Toffees were saying on one of Everton fans top websites Toffee Web:

‘Other than his brilliance on penalties, Krul is in no way an improvement on Joel. He can’t handle pressure, makes bad decisions (see the ManU game last year) and has terrible hands… can’t hold shots to save his life.’

‘Krul would be an upgrade on Robles, but he’s miles off the keepers we’ve been linked with.’

‘Krul ok as a number 2 GK but there is better out there for our number 1.’

Krul is decent but I think there are better out there. I don’t want Forster though, a lot of people seemed to have missed his clangers. Prone to rushing out of his goal in trademark Howard style too. A big no thanks.’

‘I would prefer Forster but Krul is a decent keeper and an upgrade on Robles. I’ll actually be suprised to see any signings from Southampton because they are going to f*** around with us big time, they’re pretty upset with us right now.’

‘Big NO to Krul. I don’t even rate him as an improvement over Robles.’

Krul? Great.’

‘Tim Krul, that’s a straight no. Plus he’s looking injury prone these days.’

‘I would be very happy with Krul as a back up keeper! Personally, I hope we get Mat Ryan (Valencia), along with Forster/Cillesen.

I’d use a Barca like system, and rotate them for Premier League & any other domestic & (hopefully soonish) Europe competitions.’

‘As others have said Krul is not a big or possibly even marginal step up from Robles. Horn, Forster, Leno, Cillesen or Smeichel would be better and more ambitious options.’

As for Krul, no thanks.’

‘I think Krul is a decent goalie and would be a good addition to the squad. Wouldn’t cost a fortune and definitely better than Howard. The jury is still out on Robles, but there is potential for him to be very good if he can deal with crosses into the box better.’

‘Not Krul, too many clangers. Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen at 24 yrs. is a far better prospect.’

‘I’d be pretty disappointed with Krul – decent…but I’m hoping for much more than that.’
