£10m offer for Premier League striker by Newcastle doesn’t convince – Reports

Newcastle United are set to offer £10m for Dwight Gayle according to reports today.

The Crystal Palace striker was involved in 16 Premier League matches including eight starts and ended the season with only three goals.

Injuries and preference for other strikers limited his game time and now The Mail claim that Newcastle are prepared to pay £10m for the striker.

Dwight Gayle has an underwhelming 15 league goals in three seasons at Selhurst Park which doesn’t inspire confidence and any credibility on the 25 year old’s CV, appears to rest on one half decent season in the Championship when he scored 13 goals for Peterborough.

Newcastle are in desperate need of more goals in the squad and Rafa Benitez has indicated that he has a number of signings that are imminent.

With claims that Rafa is looking for ‘Premier League standard’ players, especially strikers, it has left fans wondering who he will be able to attract to the Championship, especially when strikers with a credible goal pedigree are the players every team is looking for.
