Roy Hodgson names Andros Townsend in provisional England squad for Euros
A massive well done to Andros Townsend.
Monday morning has seen Roy Hodgson name him in his 26 man provisional England squad to compete in the Euros this summer.
Hodgson will have to cut three names from the squad to make the 23 man final squad that needs to be named by the end of the month.
This process allowing the likes of Jack Wilshere to prove his fitness after only coming back from injury this month.
Marcus Rashford was a surprise inclusion after bursting onto the scene this season for Manchester United.
Andros Townsend has been easily Newcastle’s best player since arriving in January, scoring four goals and grabbing two assists, but on top that he has been the more or less sole creative force that very nearly saved Newcastle from relegation.
I have been amazed at how good he has been and on top of his ability, his work ethic is also excellent.
Andros Townsend was arguably Newcastle’s top man against his old team on Sunday and did everything but score.
So good luck on making that final cut Andros, you deserve it!
