The Newcastle players fans would most like to see stay at the club – Votes counted
On Tuesday, we asked you who are the Newcastle players you would most like to still be at St James Park next season?
We took out the goalkeepers and listed all the senior outfield players.
We then asked you to pick 10 who you would like to see stay and be the core group to try and get Newcastle out of the Championship come next May.
The response was astonishing with thousands of Newcastle supporters voting.
The results will be maybe even more astounding to many supporters…
No surprise to see Andros Townsend right at the top, closely followed by centre-back partnership Lascelles and Mbemba, the three of them having the backing of at least 97% of the Newcastle fans who voted.
Maybe partly the voting reflects partly on an acceptance that certain players will almost certainly be sold to (hopefully) fund Rafa Benitez’ rebuilding.
However, that only partly explains the figures with seemingly a massive backlash against certain players who are perceived not to have put in maximum effort all season, leading to Newcastle’s relegation.
A lot of support for younger players who fans seem to want to build the team around, with the potential of a group of players growing together and being at the heart of a rebuilt Newcastle United for years to come.
After collating the votes, these are the percentage of fans who voted for each of the Newcastle players:
