Newcastle media partner new exclusive more embarrassing than Austin/Berahino ‘signings’

Exactly what the value of being Newcastle United’s official media partner is, must surely be open to question.

Last summer saw The Mirror ‘exclusively’ and embarrassingly state as fact that Newcastle had bought Charlie Austin, furthermore they said that a deal had also been agreed for Saido Berahino and he was certain to be arriving at St James Park as well.

Obviously dreaming up a story in The Mirror offices to try and outdo that summer 2015 classic, they have arguably came up with something that trumps that.

The Mirror state that Barcelona (don’t laugh) have been in touch with Newcastle about Ayoze Perez and want him to be an understudy to Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez…

Now Ayoze Perez is a popular lad at Newcastle, well liked by the fans, but you have a club who can go for any player in the world and they are going to target somebody who can’t even get into Newcastle’s relegation threatened team?

Yes Perez is Spanish and definitely has some ability but he also lacks pace and has it all to do to establish himself in a Premier League team, never mind Barcelona spending serious money on him.

The Mirror Exclusive…:

‘Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez is a shock target for Barcelona.

Barca scouts have identified the Spanish striker as a potential understudy to their megastar front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar and the Catalan club have contacted Toon chiefs.

Current Barca reserve forwards Sandro and Munir El Haddadi have grown tired of life on the bench at the Nou Camp and will depart this summer.

And that will leave the 22-year-old Perez with a dilemma – whether to continue playing regular first-team football on Tyneside or to join the world’s most glamorous club, knowing game-time will be extremely limited.’
