Newcastle v Swansea players ratings show two real stars and one who still didn’t turn up
The Newcastle v Swansea player ratings as voted by United fans.
Thanks to the thousands of you who took the time to complete these ratings so far.
Yesterday’s win was a massive relief to everybody and at last we were able to enjoy the last few minutes of a match when 3-0 up.
However, I was interested to see what the overall ratings would be because I heard the odd person making some pretty outrageous claims about the level of performance.
I saw lots of good attitude and commitment, a discipline to the side that has been missing for so long…but solid showings by most, rather than outstanding.
Interested to see that Jamaal Lascelles and Andros Townsend are joint top (8.2), way ahead of the rest.
Lascelles doing a great job on and off the pitch, whilst Townsend is really our only outlet in terms of bringing real threat to the opposition.
On the other hand, people clearly weren’t convinced Gini Wijnaldum (4.8) gave much more than recent disappointing displays.
Papiss Cisse (5.7) seen as having the least effective game of the rest of the starting eleven.
Mbemba (7.2) and Anita (7.0) each getting credit for good work when United were under pressure in the second-half.
Everybody else getting solid but unspectacular marks of between 6.1 and 6.7.
Of the subs, a lot of credit to Mitrovic (7.4) for helping to close the game out – the striker winning the corner that led to the second goal and then an assist for Townsend’s at the death.
These are the collective fan ratings as at 2pm on Sunday afternoon:
