Newcastle United name squad for Hong Kong

Newcastle United have named their squad for the trip to Hong Kong next month.

The Hong Kong soccer sevens takes place over three days, from Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May.

As well as Newcastle United, four other Premier League clubs will also be represented: Aston Villa, Stoke, Leicester and West Ham.

Peter Beardsley will take a 10 man squad, hoping to emulate the tournament victory of 2012.

Newcastle have been drawn in a group with Aston Villa, Kitchee, and Hong Kong Football Club.

The Newcastle United Under 21 players who will be travelling are:

Nathan Harker, Michael Newberry, Liam Gibson, Jack Hunter, Callum Williams, Dan Ward, Owen Gallagher, Sean Longstaff, Luke Charman and Dan Barlaser.

Running alongside the main competition, there is also a ‘Masters’ tournament for the over 35s.

Once again, Wallsend Boys Club have entered a team in this senior competition and have been drawn to play Citi All Stars, HKFC Veterans, Singapore Cricket Club Tigers and Yau Yee League Masters.
