Good News/Bad News on Newcastle injuries in defence for Norwich match
On the Newcastle injuries front, there is good and bad news ahead of the trip to Norwich.
Fabricio Coloccini is once again set to sit the game out as he still hasn’t recovered from his calf injury.
On the other hand Daryl Janmaat is expected to play, despite limping out of the Sunderland match and missing the two Netherlands friendly internationals with a knee problem.
On the other side of the pitch there is still no obvious answer to the selection problem there, as Dummett and Haidara will be out for a while yet and Jack Colback is suspended, Kevin Mbabu is on his way back but is reported to be not quite ready to return by the Shields Gazette.
Thankfully the impressive Nathan Redmond is out injured for Norwich so picking a left-back isn’t quite as hazardous as it could have been – the options appear to be Vurnon Anita, Moussa Sissoko, Chancel Mbemba or switching Janmaat – none of which are ideal.
Although having said that, left-back has been a problem more or less all season, no matter who has played.
Daryl Janmaat has spoken ahead of the ‘big game’ to The Chronicle:
“It is a big game…again.
“It is one that we have to look to win. We are looking forward to it, not daunted by it.
“If we go there with a positive energy we can get something from the game.”
