Why won’t they buy back Newcastle United?

As I have written before, our great club is being destroyed by the shambolic and scandalous management of Lee Charnley, Steve McClaren and the geriatric clown prince of all scouts, Graham Carr.

The Cockney market trader has sanctioned their appointments and policies but you can’t sack an owner, so we are stuck with him, and he is the only one who can get rid of the three stooges – not to mention gravy train Moncur who used to be one of my true Toon icons but not now.

As most fans think we have a great club, which is a well supported money spinner and which Ashley is supposed to be milking – the club a real gem with unlimited potential…

How is it that the very wealthy Geordies in our region are shying away from buying Newcastle United from Mike Ashley?

We have good wealthy businessmen in the region and yet no one fancies negotiating a deal to buy the club, which a consortium could buy easily. If the club is such an asset to the city why hasn’t there been an attempt from our rich friends in the North to buy Ashley out and put the club back where it should be?

It has been done before and it will take a lot of money to do it – but there are some very rich people in our region. We must not forget that the Halls and Shepherds put some money in (ED: Buying shares) during the 1990s and brought us back from the brink – got all their money back plus a big (ED: Huge!!!) profit when they got sick of owning the club.

There is something preventing our local money men buying our club back and I am beginning to think that, like me, they believe there is some kind of curse is on the club. I am not superstitious in any way but in my 60 years as a Toon fan I have seen loads of much smaller clubs than us win trophies, while all I have seen is a Fairs Cup win in 1969.

During that time we have had England managers, England captains, many international players and had more fans through the turnstiles than most clubs. We have had Supermac, Keegan and Big Al who were amongst England’s greatest ever players and still we could not win a thing.

We topped the premier league by 12 points with only so many games to go but something still stopped us from winning it.

We have had the managers , the fans, we have spent the money on quite a few great players and still nowt. It has to be a curse!!!

We may need to do the unthinkable which is, after getting rid of the current owner and officials, we may need to move lock, stock and barrel to a new ground and leave the spiritual home – as this is the only thing we have not tried yet.

If it is not the directors, players, managers and fans that is stopping us winning something it has to be the curse of Gallowgate.

(clutching at straws)
