The Newcastle team v Norwich to put NUFC on the way to survival

Here is the Newcastle team v Norwich that can bring Rafa Benitez the first of many wins for NUFC.

At least two changes are guaranteed from the derby match, with Rob Elliot injured and Jack Colback suspended.

It looks guaranteed that Karl Darlow will be in goal but the left-back is a bit more difficult to call.

With Dummett, Haidara and Mbabu all seemingly ruled out, there is no obvious solution.

Moussa Sissoko did ok in the final stages of the Sunderland match as an emergency but I think Newcastle would be better served looking for a different solution.

With the team desperate for goals I think we need a different solution in attempting to create and finish the chances that have been so rare in recent matches…and indeed much of this season.

I would play just these three at the back (assuming Janmaat has recovered from his knee injury) and with Saivet and Shelvey in front as cover.

Out wide, the expectation would be on both Townsend and Sissoko getting up and down the pitch to contribute at both ends.

It surely as well must be time for Siem de Jong to get his chance after a couple of promising sub appearances under Benitez, with a little pressure lifted off Wijnaldum and potential use of him as an impact sub. Away from home he has been totally anonymous and we can’t afford yet another of those performances.

Another change for me with goals being of the essence, would be to throw Seydou Doumbia into the mix alongside Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Ivory Coast striker has an excellent goals record at everywhere he has been, apart from AS Roma.

Something/someone different has to be tried, as without goals in the team United are just drifting ever closer to relegation.

My Newcastle team v Norwich:

To create the image above, John Martin used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 17k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Norwich.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
