Tiny bit of humble pie from me when it comes to Sunderland action on Adam Johnson
Given my article on Thursday and my criticism of Sunderland over the Adam Johnson affair, it is only right I eat a tiny bit of humble pie
Obviously everyone now knows the stance that SAFC have taken (statement Thursday night) and while I was critical of them beforehand (for not acting sooner), it would be churlish not to acknowledge the action they have now taken (sacking Adam Johnson).
For sure I took some stick, some justified some not, but I am big enough to come back and admit I may have jumped the gun with some of the content of the article.
The whole episode is in essence very sad and as a few people pointed out, the victims are not the relegated clubs from last season, but simply the persons involved, and of course their families, indeed the family of Mr Johnson are also victims.
I have said before when I write on here, I don’t hide behind pseudonyms, so I do leave myself open to severe personal criticism but I won’t change that no matter what, I said what I was thinking at the time – simple as that.
To conclude, SAFC have come to a decision and they should be applauded for that, with the rest of this sad episode to conclude (in court) over the coming weeks.
For those who thought I was wrong to say what I did on Thursday I apologise, but I reiterate, I won’t change the way I write things, nor will I become an anonymous faceless keyboard warrior.
