Jonas Gutierrez sends his love

Jonas Gutierrez left a big impression on Newcastle fans with his great workrate and especially the way he took in his stride, a very public battle with cancer.

Plus of course Jonas scored one of the goals that made sure Newcastle remained a Premier League club in his very final game at the club, against West Ham, last May.

However, Newcastle United and the people of Tyneside apparently made just as big an impression on the Argentine winger and he looked to inspire the current team and the supporters yesterday.

Not included in the Deportivo la Coruna 18 man squad that drew with Sporting Gijon yesterday, Jonas Gutierrez used his twitter account to send numerous messages of support to the Newcastle team, the fans and ‘best friend’ Fabricio Coloccini.

Jonas has played 10 times for Deportivo so far this season and helped them to ninth place in the table, but his last start was a 3-0 home defeat in the cup to Mirandes three weeks ago – though he was an unused sub in their La Liga game last Monday.

Maybe a little bit of  the Jonas Gutierrez love and positive thinking fed through…

Jonas Gutierrez via Twitter:

“With the Geordie nation all is possible, come on Newcastle today. The best to my best friend Coloccini.

“Believe Geordies, you r going to escape relegation. With that type of fans you r not going to go down. Be positive and look forward.

“We go down, we come back, we finished 5th, we fight in europe and you help me with my recovery, always in my heart Geordie nation.

“I always watch my last game at the club and  what you give me when I left the pitch. Thank you for make me feel a Geordie.

“I have a lot of memories of my 7 years at the club and I can say one thing about that, thank you Geordies for your support.

“You make me feel at home in that 7 years. Thank you and today give that support that you always give to get the 3 points.

“The opposition hate that noise, make them feel hard the 90 minutes, come on Newcastle.”
