Chelsea set to be missing four for Newcastle clash

The local reports in the West London media on Saturday morning claim that Diego Costa will play this afternoon.

The Chelsea striker broke his nose in training on Thursday and he was wearing a mask during Friday’s training session to judge whether he would be able to wear one in match conditions.

The blues are really left with little choice but to ‘encourage’ their main centre-forward to play, with a shortage of viable alternatives.

Former Newcastle loanee Loic Remy has been out with a calf injury and isn’t expected to be available, whilst Radamel Falcao has so far only started one Premier League game and scored one goal, plus is expected to also be unavailable with his ongoing thigh problem.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have the same problem with latest loan signing Alexandre Pato as Newcastle have with Seydou Doumbia, the Brazilian looks a very decent player but a total lack of match practice sees both him and Doumbia surely not starting today.

In addition for Chelsea, they have problems in defence with Kurt Zouma suffering that really horrible looking knee injury last Sunday against Manchester United.

John Terry likely to line up with Gary Cahill but Guus Hiddink having to add 18 year old Jake Clarke-Salter to his squad.

Seemingly a lot of disappointment at Chelsea with the more recent signings made under Jose Mourinho before he left, leading to an unbalanced squad.
