What Arsenal fans had to say about the win over Newcastle

Arsenal fans and the travelling Newcastle supporters were probably united in one thing before Saturday’s match.

Almost everybody was expecting a comfortable home win but sometimes football doesn’t always work out quite how you expect it to…

The consensus after the 1-0 defeat from neutrals and pundits alike, was that Newcastle deserved at least a point, maybe more.

What about the Arsenal fans though, did they agree with that sentiment or did they think it was just another regulation top of the table team performance?

Always interesting to hear what the Gooners think of Arsene Wenger

Last 16 in the Champions League and top of the Premier League.

We searched out the reaction of the Arsenal fans via one of their top message boards goonersweb

Enjoy:

‘Should be a fairly straight forward win, Newcastle are horrible. Think we’ve won our last 7 or 8 against them as well. 3-0.’

‘We should be putting this lot to the sword!’

‘Newcastle are getting into the game now.’

‘Apart from the first five mins we’ve been a bit crap.’

‘We look very weak today. Out muscled everywhere.’

‘Bright spell in the first 5 mins. Since then Newcastle have had the best of it.’

‘We love making the sh*t teams look good.’

‘It’s a worry because it’s not as if we haven’t had a bad game recently and the team say they’ll bounce back. No point if we don’t learn. Hope we come out strong for the second half.’

‘F*** sake we’re getting smashed.’

‘Cech saving us again.’

‘Outplayed by Tottenham, losing to West Brom, can’t beat Nitwich, pub wins over Villa, Sunderland & a very poor City,

‘Thrashed by Southampton, pubbed win over the mighty Bournemouth & now should be losing at home to Newcastle – he (Wenger) is entirely responsible for this. Forget where we are in the league – we’ve been there before – we can’t win the league with the performances we are giving.’

‘KOSCIELNY!!!!!’

‘Wenger outclassed tactically by Schteve, embarrassing. When’s he going to find some balls and lay down the law to Ramsey? Ramsey wanted a start in the middle, he has it and now he wants to be Ozil. Time for him to buckle down and work for the team.’

‘We just created about 4000 chances against Bournemouth on Monday and then played like drunkards today. Sometimes, you can acknowledge the opposition’s hard work in stopping your team playing well, but with Arsenal it does usually seem to be about the mentality and attitude. We rarely play well when we start sluggishly.’

Cech won us a game in which we were second best for most of the 90. At home. Against Newcastle.’

‘Some moan that we are top by 2 points, they moan when we win, they moan when we consistently get top four finishes, moan the FA Cup isn’t enough… blah blah blah. If we win, its nothing to do with Wenger and the players ignored his tactics and won. If we won its nothing to do with the players because they are sh*t and don’t try and we only won because the other team are worse, and nothing to do with Wenger.’

‘I’d feel much better about life if Wenger could offer the three points to Newcastle as compensation. I’m not up to the moral dilemma of playing badly and winning.’

‘When you struggle to beat relegation fodder like Newcastle, Sunderland & Villa whilst getting beaten recently by WBA & thrashed by a Southampton team that everyone else seems to be beating – what do you call it if that’s not mediocre – do you think we’re playing well. Are we playing better football than 5 or 6 years ago – why do we need to pay Wenger £8 mill a year to achieve results that most other managers could get us.’

‘85% of goals are scored in the area – if we continue to back off to pub wins, better teams than Newcastle will take the chances that come & we will concede goals & drop points.’
