West Ham owner not happy after Newcastle match

Inspired by new signing Jonjo Shelvey, Newcastle were good value for their 2-1 win over the Hammers.

However, one person who wasn’t happy after the final whistle was one of the owners of West Ham, David Gold.

Owning the club with David Sullivan, Gold said that it was a disappointing result and ‘it’s not easy to take’.

He also had a dig at Newcastle about where they put the away fans.

David Gold saying the West Ham fans were ‘magnificent’ despite having the ‘worst seats in the stadium’.

Also, both Newcastle and West Ham were linked with Charlie Austin, only for the QPR striker to sign for Southampton in what appears to be a very cheap £4m transfer.

Responding to a West Ham fan querying why the Hammers didn’t go for Austin, David Gold replied ‘Is he a bargain if his wages are £100,000 per week?’.

David Gold on Newcastle v West Ham:

“Disappointing result at Newcastle today, lets bounce back on Saturday. We did the double over Liverpool now let’s do it over Man City.

“We lost today and it’s not easy to take but our 3k+fans who were in the worst seats in the stadium were magnificent.”

David Gold on Charlie Austin:

“Is he a bargain if his wages are £100,000 per week?”
