The Newcastle team v Watford for FA Cup fourth round glory!

I think it is obvious to everybody that there are going to be a number of changes for the Newcastle team v Watford.

Steve McClaren talks of ‘one or two’ with ‘niggles’ missing out but at the same time playing his ‘strongest strongest’ team…we’ll see how that one works out.

I think there can be a few changes to the Newcastle team v Watford that won’t even make the side weaker and may indeed make it ‘even’ stronger.

I would have Kevin Mbabu in at left-back to see if he can show the same form he did against Chelsea and Manchester City, them if he achieves that today I would definitely keep him in for Man Utd on Tuesday.

However, I would still keep Paul Dummett in the team against Watford but move him alongside Mbemba, to try and compete better physically against the likes of Ighalo, Deeney or whoever Flores throws up front.

Coloccini says he wants to play, which I find dubious considering he has only played one FA Cup in five years, but even if it’s true I think we must look for a way to improve the centre of defence regardless.

Keeping Wijanldum in the middle is a no-brainer and surely Thauvin must play.

If he doesn’t, then any remaining confidence will surely dwindle away to nothing, plus we have to remember he could actually be quite good(!) if given his chance.

I’d fancy a new look front two and give Perez and de Jong a chance, in an attempt to play a bit more football.

Hopefully a five of de Jong, Perez, Sissoko, Thauvin and Wijnaldum can create problems for the home team and Tiote in there to help provide cover for them.

My Newcastle team v Watford:

To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 16k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Watford.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
