This is the Newcastle team v Aston Villa with 3 changes to make it a trio of wins

Here is the Newcastle team v Aston Villa that I would pick.

Never changing a winning team isn’t a rule that I adhere to.

After all, why would  you would pick the same eleven players when you have better choices sitting on the bench.

However, you look at last Sunday’s match, the fact remains that it was only when Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic came onto the pitch that Newcastle carried any real threat.

I’m personally in the camp that believes that it was stupid leaving the pair out and playing Cisse and de Jong, rather than believing it was some inspired move by Steve McClaren that won United the match.

After all, if you were manager of Barcelona and left out Lionel Messi, would you then be hailed a genius if you brought him on and he won you the game?

Not that I think Perez…or Mitrovic, are another Lionel Messi, but you get my drift.

So it is a no-brainer for me that those two changes are made and they are my front two today.

However, I also think one more change is ideally needed for the good of the team against Villa.

Cheick Tiote is the only player back from injury this weekend and I would put him in alongside Jack Colback to hopefully tighten up the middle of the pitch. We don’t want Aston Villa to get any kind of a foothold in the game and they have to attack surely, as they are desperate for three points.

McClaren paired the two together against Norwich and then they were doing well against Sunderland until Cattermole kicked Colback out of the game, so I think there’s a good chance that Steve McClaren also thinks they are the best central midfield duo from his current options.

Vurnon Anita has been a little better in the last couple of matches but is still a weak link as far as I’m concerned.

My Newcastle team v Aston Villa:

To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 16k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Aston Villa.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
