The Newcastle team v Tottenham to bring back three points

Here is the Newcastle team v Tottenham that I would pick.

Steve McClaren said at his press conference that his squad options for the game at White Hart Lane are the same as last weekend.

So a major surprise if any of the injured players bounce back to be involved today.

The Head Coach says that his natural inclination is usually to stay with a winning team but he did hint that there is a chance that this might not be the case today.

I can’t see any major departure but one change that I would make, is the inclusion of Ayoze Perez.

He scored the winner here last season of course but more than that, I don’t see how we can afford to leave a player of his invention, workrate and quality on the bench.

I think Siem de Jong has to stay in the team as he is our best chance of bringing a better attacking emphasis to the team but I would sacrifice Papiss Cisse to bring in Perez.

Cisse has done ok since Mitrovic was dropped but I think the best way to sum it up is for you to ask yourself the question – Would you rather have Papiss Cisse or Ayoze Perez playing today?

I know what my answer is and this is the team and formation I would play below.

Then the option will be there of throwing on, Cisse or Mitrovic and maybe Florian Thauvin as an alternative if the changes aren’t working.
