Mark Lawrenson predicts West Brom v Newcastle

Mark Lawrenson has given us the benefit of his expertise on the West Brom v Newcastle match on Monday.

The BBC pundit thinks that West Brom boss Tony Pulis is excellent at ‘pigeonholing results’, whatever that means…

What he believes with regard to Monday’s match is that the Baggies will go on to win 2-0 as Pulis will have them ready to go and win.

As for Newcastle. Mark Lawrenson thinks that United ‘might just have enough’ to stay up, which sounds like the most feeble pieces of support I have ever heard.

Now in the bottom three, Newcastle are desperate to get a result – no matter what Mark Lawrenson says.

Mark Lawrenson speaking to BBC Sport:

“I saw Newcastle on Boxing Day and they look like they might just have enough to avoid relegation, but that’s about it.

“The players are playing for the manager, there’s no doubt about that and they got stuck in against Everton. They should have got a point.

“But I can see West Brom will go and do a job on them, it’s what they are particularly good at.

“Tony Pulis has always been excellent at pigeonholing results, he will have forgotten about the Boxing Day defeat at Swansea and they will be ready to go, and to win.”
