Breaking News: Newcastle cult hero Pavel Srnicek has died
Very sad news on Tuesday afternoon, as Sky Sports have just confirmed that Pavel Srnicek has died.
The 47 year old Newcastle cult hero was out for a run nine days ago when he suffered a cardiac arrest.
The former United keeper was put into an induced coma by medical staff at the Ostrava teaching hospital in the Czech Republic.
The family of the Newcastle United favourite had appealed to Newcastle fans for help at the Everton match on Saturday.
His family asking all supporters to sing ‘Pavel is a Geordie’ at half-time during today’s Newcastle v Everton match, with a recording then to be played to Pavek Srnicek at his bedside.
Like all Newcastle fans our thoughts are with his family & friends.
Alan Shearer is one of the many who have expressed their shock at the news.
So very, very sad to lose my friend and former teammate @PavelSrnicekUK My thoughts are with his family at this awful time. #NUFC #RIPPavel
