The blame game – We must start at the top end of Newcastle United
Before we get to blaming the players for the current situation, we must start at the top end of the club.
Mike Ashley is not interested in success, entertainment or winning anything. He is like any big business man and he just wants to maximise profit and does not give a toss how he does this.
As long as the fans turn up and pay their dosh and as long as we cling on to our place in the top league to retain the great riches that goes with it, he is not bothered by the sh*** being served up on the field, or the fact that we are ridiculed for supporting the Toon by other fans.
Then we need to look at Penfold, a man who is in a job that is totally alien to him. He is an office clerk for God’s sake, not a top football administrator at a formerly top club. He has no experience or knowledge of running a football club (only having worked at Newcastle…) and he is only there to do Ashley’s dirty work.
Then we get down to the King of Clowns, Mr Carr, who is too old, devoid of a successful track record and continues to bring in spineless, gutless and unsuitable footballers in the main.
We then look at the team management set up and I struggle to understand how we ended up with coaches and an assistant manager who I had barely heard of.
The manager I suppose has some pedigree but no real success in recent times and he obviously can’t get the results we require from these players. He has proved a failure in the Championship, so when we go down I cannot see us getting back up easily if he remains in charge.
We are then left with the players. We only have possibly three decent ones and the rest are a mix of either lazy sods, or ones that are just not of the required quality.
I have been a fan since 1956 and have put up with a lot but now I cannot see a way out of this mess unless someone very very rich buys Ashley out and completely revamps the club.
I do not have that long left now and would dearly love to see the Toon win something but I think I may have to live to 120 years old for that to happen but maybe that is hoping for too much….
