Steve McClaren has got to go
It is easy to make knee-jerk reactions in the light of a heavy loss, but looking at today’s latest shambles it’s quite clear Newcastle United’s strategy has completely backfired and relegation is now quite likely.
The decision to appoint Steve McClaren was flawed.
The recruitment policy was flawed and has been for three years now.
There is clearly a massive problem with the players in terms of application, form and ability.
It was said to me this week that Mike Ashley is an absentee landlord – I think that’s spot on.
He’s left Lee Charnley at the helm and aided and abetted by Carr, he has added to what was an already colossal mess at our football club.
So another black day for the fans. Who are now living through what could turn out to be one of the worst season’s ever.
….and all at the hands of Pardew today.
Other clubs, with smaller grounds and owners of less wealth, are making the NUFC hierarchy look like a bunch of amateurs.
The reason for this is that NUFC’s power brokers are a bunch of amateurs.
Where we go from here is a scary thought.
In the short-term, Steve McClaren has got to go.
Here are the stats from BBC Sport:
