No game tonight for Newcastle’s Gini Wijnaldum and Daryl Janmaat, with the Germany v Holland match called off due to ‘security concerns’.

The Hannover Stadium which was hosting the match, started to be evacuated less than two hours before kick-off with some fans already in the ground.

Belgium’s friendly with Spain in Brussels had already been called off on Monday because of security fears, after what had happened in Paris and the police still reportedly looking for a number of people in connection with Friday’s atrocities.

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, was scheduled to attend the Germany v Holland, whilst two Dutch government ministers, Defence Minister Jeanine Hennes and Health & Sport Minister Edith Schippers, were also to be guests.

Germany had initially not wanted the game to go ahead having played against France in Paris on Friday when the wave of attacks hit the city.

However, the players, coaches and national football association decided to proceed with the match in a display of unity with the French FA and the public.

Tonight’s England v France game goes ahead as planned, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye start for France..
