Newcastle star slips down power rankings
Gini Wijnaldum has slid down the Premier League power rankings, now sitting at number 22 after dropping 12 places in the past week.
The Dutch midfielder remains the only Newcastle player in the top 50 in the lead up to the crunch game at Bournemouth.
The Power Rankings are a system developed by Sky Sports to reflect a player’s performance over the previous five weeks (of games) – each preceding week is worth fewer points.
This means that the Power Rankings reflect the most in-form players of the moment, with your most recent match the most important and then working backwards/down in terms of importance.
After each set of matches the power rankings are updated, with a list of the top 50 players published.
After their six goal drubbing at Everton, some of Sunderland’s players took a hammering.
The Mackem keeper Pantilimon received this week’s worst score of all Premier League players, getting a mark of minus 9,610 points for the display at Goodison Park.
Still living in hope that one or two Newcastle defenders get somewhere close to the upper reaches one day…
