Newcastle United have been linked with a January move for Anwar El Ghazi.

The Ajax winger has been in sparkling form and scored eight goals in 10 league appeaances this season, following on from his nine goals last season.

Still only 20 years of age, El Ghazi made the step up to full international level in October, when he started both of Holland’s European Championship qualifiers last month.

On Saturday, Anwar El Ghazi helped Ajax to a 6-0 win over Roda which put them three points clear at the top of the table.

With his club form and international breakthrough, any potential transfer wouldn’t come cheap.

The Dutch media have credited Newcastle with interest in the winger, whilst the Chronicle also say Newcastle have been watching his progress, claiming United scouts have given him rave reviews after recent performances.

Whilst a winger might not be top of most Newcastle fans’ desperate for wish list at the minute, United are desperately in need of extra creativity, goals and width.

Reports at the weekend claimed that United may need to get high earners such as Papiss Cisse out of the club first, before new signings would be considered, just how strict this will turn out to be will no doubt largely be determined by Newcastle’s league position by January.
